I had been wondering how those Xaviere guitars were. I'm a big Zemaitis fan...but who can afford a real one? So I really like the look of the inlay pearl top Xaviere's.

I'm glad to hear that they play good.

I'm kind of disappointed that the Zemaitis family would allow these new Z guitars to happen. To me it goes against the tradition of the originals.....handbuilt guitars....made by one guy....Tony Z himself.

There is a guy in New Jersey named Rob Mondell that builds fantastic guitars. His are called Justin Sain guitars....They are truly in the spirit of original Z guitars....Les Paul inspired designs....handbuilt by Rob.....mahogany with metal tops, but with less ornate engraving.

I should be receiving my first one next week.

I found out today the S22 MF Zemaitis is $7900.00 Ouch that hurt!!! and thats not a custom shop one either. So I think the Xaviere is more in line $$$ wise.

The top is just a veneer. However, the body is solid mahogany. Mine is 3 pieces I think. To be honest, I think a 1/2" maple top would ruin the tone of this guitar. Mine is perfect how it is. It sounds perfect for Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Disturbed type stuff.

It's best to keep in mind that this is a $329 guitar. You're not going to get a 1/2" thick slab of flame maple on it. It's not a GMP, or a Les Paul, but it plays and sounds great.

I had the privilidge of talking to Tony Zemaitis in the Early 90's,quite a few times, when I was arranging for Tony to build Bob Daisley a Metal fronted bass-Bob wasn't happy that the bass cost him £3000 and never even came with a cardboard box, klet alone a case when he picked it up

I could see paying $7900.00 for a vintage Z but not for a MIJ Z.Thats just out of the ball park for me.
