Thanks guys. I just figured I should update some of the information I had left in the previous thread that always gets linked to when you mention Rand guitars.
Again, my story is really all hearsay. I don't know Rand. I just happen to know a couple of guys that did know Rand and his Sister and picked their brains two months ago about all they could remember. I've also had a few email conversations with some knowledgable Rand collectors that do know Rand and I always try to get the "story" from them.
I just tried to be comprehensive because there is zero information on the web about Rand guitars. They are truly great guitars that deserve their niche.
Where is Rand now? Damned if I know. I belive he is in Frazier Park, CA. I have an address and a phone number. Maybe one day I'll write a letter and see if I get a response.
Another rumor was that Rand would still burn the midnight oil every once in a while finishing guitars for Pat Wilkins. http://www.wilkinsguitars.com/

Show us some pictures of the Viv guitar when you get it. I almost hammered out a deal for that guitar (the seller lived real close to me and I kept trying to come over) but it looks like you got her. She is the Rand "missing link" guitar. You now have the evolution of Rand guitars. From the prototype, to the transitional shaped Viv, to the production model. Nice job. Would make for a cool picture.
I have a question for you Rand guys. I recently purchased the Black one in my previous post. The previous owner swapped out the electronics. It has three switches on it but they don't seem to work correctly. All the switches are three-way mini's. One switch doesn't do anything at all. The other two act like on/off switches but why would there be a three-way mini on there? What the heck are the purposes of those three switches? Thanks.
