  • My home built guitar...(not quite finished)

This is a guitar that I am still working on and have been for some time.
This was all built with cheap scraps of wood from a local Woodcraft store, with the exception of the ebony fingerboard, which I bought pre-slotted from Luthier's Mercantile. That's why the body is built from 2 large chunks of mahogany and has the thin strips down the center. I actually like the look of that, but it wasn't totally intentional. The neck is of course laminated mahogony. It has a 5/8" flamed maple top. It's not a high grade piece of wood at all. I really was only building this guitar to try out some new construction methods. I might build another later with some nicer wood.

The top is stained black, which will be taken down and then done in green before the entire body is finished in clear nitro.

Here you can see the laminated body...

Here is a picture before any finishing where you can see the neck tenon and the carve on the top. The neck is set in and the tenon extends all the way past the bridge. The pickups will be solid mounted, so I gave no care to being able to mount bezels. The layout lines for the string thru holes are also visible.

Here's a shot of the headstock, the binding is flamed maple.

Here's the rear of the headstock and the volute.

I just wanted to share with you folks. I'd love to hear some opinions on the design of the guitar. I may end up building more of these someday becasue I made templates for everything.

Pretty cool! Nice attention to detail! Can't wait to hear clips through that 5150!
