  • Les Paul-like guitars.

Okay we all know the LP copies by Tokai, Greco, Burny, Ibanez, Aria, etc., but what about the guitars that aren't copies per se, but variations on the theme.

    Here, I'll start you off:

    Yamaha Weddington
    Xaviere XV500
    Dean EVO
    Washburn Idol WI66

Mmmm, this isn't really what I meant guys. I should have been more clear. I meant carved/arched top guitars. Oh well.

How dare you not include the Hamer Monaco Elite in your list.

The only thing that's prevented my trying to track one down for a while now is that I've never been able to lay my hands on one. Driskill & Thorn would be worth a look too.

That's why I made this thread.

What are the necks like on Hamers?

You can get two different carves on the production Hamers. The vintage and the modern. I've got the vintage carve on my Artist Korina and it is definitely beefy. I think they were going for the 50's Les Paul, but to me it's not quite that fat. It's not a baseball bat or anything. But it is very substantial. I've got a Warmoth fatback that is thicker. However, the Hamer vintage carve is nice and round and is extremely comfortable in my hands. Perhaps the most comfortable of any of my guitars.

The modern carve is somewhat thinner, but not ultra thin like a Dinky or Ibanez Wizard. I haven't played one of those in a while, so I can't comment as much on them.

Hamer will also do a custom carve if you send in a neck. They can copy the dimensions of your favorite neck and reproduce it pretty much dead on. I thnk that's something like a $150 upcharge which will translate to about $100 at your dealer, maybe less.

                              Also, don't forget about McNaught:

                              Nik Huber:

And how could you not list the PRS Singlecut?
