+1, I would do this too. I just re-did a '65 SG Junior from the bottom to the top since it had been neglected by previous owner(s).

I would not waste money on a refinish especially on a already old guitar unless it was stripped already.

Why are you saying wasting money? It's your guitar, so you can do what you want, but since that LP has been modified and somewhat abused I would repair and refinish it to look like new, then as I played it would relic on it's own giving it a new life. I had a '65 SG Jr. that had been abused and the headstock was coming apart because of so many tuner changes and holes all over from pickguard, pickup and bridge mods. I re-did the entire guitar and it looks like new! I went from this (hard to tell how bad it was from this pics)

I wouldn't refin it. I'd just get rid of all the electrical tape, take it to a tech to have the switch area fixed up, add new pup rings and a middle pup. Maybe get a DiMarzio Bluesbucker for the middle position so you can have your P-90 sound (P-90 in humbucker housing).

Ya it looks nice! But I don't like new : / To me it would be a waste of money to refinish it I like the way it looks. I would rather put that money into buying another guitar or something.

I don't trust any techs anymore, I had my Les Paul at this tech place near me... they never touched the guitar for about 2 months so I go pissed and took it back home. I'm just going to have my friend install some pickups and I'll see what I can do.

It doesn't have to look new, but why does it have to look so horrible? At least put 3 pickups in it, and ditch the tape. It would look alright. As for the switch, use some epoxy to reapir the wood behind it, or put a large washer behind it, to support the broken wood. Hell, if you lived near me, I would do it for you just out of pity for the guitar.

You should trade it to me. I've tried a couple of times, but Mike won't crack

Love that classic! I'd go triple Zebra personally. Mike, you need a nice shiny guitar....you are getting sleepy.....

I've always liked your LPC. I saw it on the LP forum first. On the other hand , as others have suggested , there isn't anything wrong with that guitar that can't be fixed without screwing up the mojo. I bet a good autobody guy could even fill in the pickup hole and match the original paint.

I always liked this guitar...reminds me of Josh Moore's Beloved-era Epiphone...

I'ld say it's mid 70 that finish wasn't offered until 74 or75 and with the Nashville bridge & post that would put it around 76 or later. I agree just put a 3rd H in it and play it and don't put to much money into it.

alot of guys are taping the pickup switch with black tape anyway, most players these days do not use the neck pickup (punk and rock) and knock it to the neck position by playing wild, i know i do this all the time.

However i wont tape mine, i just change the direction of the switch, instead of going up and down i twist it so it goes forwards and backwards, when the switch is towards the neck it is bridge, when it is towards the tailpeice it is neck.

I know some of you are probaly thinking, why not make it towards the neck the neck pickup etc.. Well i have found when playing like a mad man even going front to back, having it towards the birdige i could sometimes still knock to the neck position position.

According to Gibson it was , and the bridge isn't origianl to the body.
