  • My Ibanez Les Paul (pics)

    Hey all!

I thought I'd share some pics of my Ibanez Les Paul which has been laying around for 6 years... I'm finally gonna repair it and play it!

Here are links to bigger pics:

I'll probably shoot some pics of the repair process (It'll be quite exciting since I've never done something like that before) and make a new thread!

Since that is a bolt-on neck, can you get a replacement?

        Good luck with the repair.

i had a tobacco burst one back in the early 80's with a bolt on , i got it for 200.00, it played great, but getting a replacement neck for the exact same guitar could be a bitch though, or i could so wrong that i probably am-lol

            Thanks guys!

Well, I thought I'd try to repair it before searching for a replacement neck. I got this guitar from my music teacher when I was 16 and quit 9th grade.

First I tried to buy it, but school wasn't allowed to sell stuff to students, so on the last day of school, she gave it to me! I've no idea who dropped the guitar, I remember it being fine until somewhere in the last semester.

I remember it had the original case (never got that), and a couple of years after I got the guitar, some fuckhead burned down the school!!!

I did play it from time to time in music class, but I don't remember anything about how it played, last time I played it must've been 7 years ago or so, so I didn't know much about guitars anyway, haha!

it will play really easy, you can make the action as low as you wish,
it was the exact same guitar in tobacco yup.
It sounded o.k., i don't really remember to tell you the truth, but I know that
                it will play super easy.

My dad has one of these. He's had it for years. The pickups will be lower-output but have a nice tone.

The action on his is the lowest of any guitar I have ever played in my life. You just have to look at the thing and it's fretting notes.

I'm getting more and more excited about playing this once it's finished!

I'll try to get it together this week or next... and then I'll get back with a report!

Is that the original neck? I thought the "Custom" had three pickups?

Thanks Henrik! I'll try to do my best... I'm by no means a professional luthier, haha! But I don't intend to screw it up!!

I don't know actually, but I don't think that it has had the neck swapped. The teacher who gave it to was working as the only music teacher when the school bought the guitar (AFAIK), so I guess she would have told me about that, had it been the case.

But since I don't know much about these, I don't doubt that you know alot more than me regarding model names/configs etc. What did they call the 2 hum version?

i had a regular two hum les paul standard copy, but it had a bolt on neck. it played as well as any real paul or tokai, orville, greco, etc. the action is ridiculously low.
