  • GMP Leopard V

A couple Saturdays ago, I woke up early instead of sleeping in. I was even up before the kids -- and you parents know how difficult that is to do. I put on the coffee, went into the office, checked the JCF, then the GMP forum, and then ebay -- my usual morning routine.

I did my usual search for GMPs and lo and behold...there were two for sale with good BINs. A silver sparkle Roxie, and this V -- a replica of the Leopard Sparkle V Slash had made for his buddy Ryan Roxie. I hesitated about 3 seconds and hit the BIN -- I figured I'd explain to the wife later. (Who, by the way, was very cool with my purchase.)

It's actually signed by Ryan Roxie, but that's just a tasty sidedish to this delicious entree of GMP goodness.

The colors are deep copperish and bronze-ish, and the depth of the sparkles are amazing. Pics don't do it justice. The usual abalone diamond inlays are actually a matching sparkle...a very nice detail.

As usual with a GMP, it sounds and plays even more badass than it looks. This is Number Eight in my GMP collection...and I think I speak for everyone when I say it's precisely what you expect a GMP to be:

    Rock. As. Fuck.

I normally do not like the flake paint jobs, but GMP could make me tolerate one or two. That is a weird trademark for a company to have.

                    ....freaking killer guitar!

Awesome guitar, Tom. Love the inlays. Congrats.

I saw that one early, too, and was close to hitting the BIN myself. Decided to hold off, though. :lol

Just when I thought that koa one was cooler than your Evel.
                        That is just sick!

Do any of those GMPs have fatter necks? I think that one of the semi-hollowbody Les Paul type ones might be cool (please pardon my ignorance on the names of the models and so forth)
