  • BC Rich USA neckthru Ignitor.

Finally got some good pics in the sun of my newest guitar to join the herd.
A black neckthru USA BC Rich Ignitor. Ebony board with just MOP? spears on the 12th., emg 81's, 1 volume 1 tone and 3 way selector, grover tuners. Serial number starts with a 96 which from what I have read also dates it to 1996. Also says M City West in the back where the springs are.

Any BC Rich Gurus care to share any info on such an model? I'm very curious to learn some history as my impression of their guitars (until this one) was always negative.

Never seen these before. I saw the auction and read the specs and figured it seemed the same quality as my USA SL1 so I hit the buy it now.
After some frustration with getting it set up ( thread about that in the tech forum) It finally was ready to be played after a long wait.

It has a neck profile/ thickness of my SL1 but for some reason feels better to my hands and plays faster. The only thing is I am not used to such a clean board and occassionally get lost positionally.

To sum it all up I'm more then happy I took the gamble and bought this guitar.
Ok now the pics. which were larger but Photobucket seems to have resized them damnit.

Nice axe. I never really dug the Ignitor shape, but hey it's black and evil looking.

a beautiful guitar to be sure.

i almost want to say its a custom shop ignitor, but i've never seen a production.

but FirebirdV and the other good guys should be in to say their parts toi help out.

amazing guitar. A lot of cool players like Steve Smyth play Ignitors.

class axe & after shape, made in mexico like all "usa handmades" post 94. they are pretty rare since most ppl including me arent too fond of the shape. is the scale on that still the 24 5/8"?

Nice axe. They first appeared in '95, as Chuck used one on Symbolic. See this article here for proof: http://www.jcfonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54619

That's got the BC Rich licensed Floyd on there, right?

Sweet!!! The Ignitor is definitely one of my favorite B.C. Rich shapes!

Yeah I havent change the pickup rings yet as I have no extras lying around.
Not sure about the scale but that could possibly contribute to why it feels better/faster then my SL1. Yup BC Rich Licensed Floyd on it.

Like I mentioned I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this since I'm used to seeing low to middle-end garbage from BC Rich. This is comparable IMO to a USA made Jackson.

I hear these Floyd's are crappy but I never do any whammy bar dives anyways.

LoL so its an made in Mexico made in the USA . So was the stuff that was made by Class Axe frowned upon then? I'll have to do some more reading I suppose.

Oh any thoughts on what the "M. City West " stands for? Shop location?
                          Mexico city west?

Another point of interest on this one is the guy I bought it from said he never gigged with it but used it for practice with "Malevolent Creation" never heard of the band to be honest , but then shortly afterwards someone here linked to another one of his auctions on Ebay and he was selling a V from Phil Fasciana of the same band.
