here is my opinion for what its worth...
I am a Schecter and a Jackson dealer...
While I am extremely bias.. the Schecter gives you more "bang for the buck" in a lot of ways.
Schecter has real Grovers, a Tonepros locking bridge and real abalone and MOP inlays. with Real Duncans in a lesser expensive guitar than the SLSMG
with that said, the Jackson is a WAY better built guitar. if you play the classic it sounds really good. but the craftmanship is not quite on par with the SLS...
the best deal if you dont want the EMGs is to find a used or NOS 05 or earlier model and put a set of duncans or dimarzios in it
I put a Dimarzio Super Distortion and a PAF Pro in one of the EDS ones and it sounds AMAZING...lots of chunk
