Ya know..I use a Brawley Threat hardtail quite often..bolt on. They've been discontinued for a few years now.. out of biz..but, Mr Brawley used to be a designer for Fender and these guitars are a pretty solid buy. I really like my hardtail. I picked up a floyded one for 99.00 new in a Guitar Center blowout a year ago last Sept. The hardtails actually are likely to be a better player. For a strat style...they go around 150.00-250.00 used on eBay. I picked up my hardtail for 150.00 new at the same GC sale. Not sure how many are in the UK but there had to have been some about.

Otherwise.. maybe a used Patrick Eggle or a used DKMG bolt on with the EMG HF passives...which seems to have been a model thats discontiuned.

Peavey too..plenty of them out there. A used hardtail could likely be had pretty inexpensively.
I picked up a Tracer for 60.00 off eBay once.. came with a Dimarzio X2N and gold locking schaller tuners-became a nice project guitar even tho it was completely fine and playable.
Some of the Washburn series are in UK. The older double cutaway wing series and SB's are a great buy.

I really like that paintjob on that concept.

I think the kramer set necks are good bang for the buck, all under 250 USA dollars.

Agiles are very good but I prefer Cort's. Same price range and they don't spend so much energy copying Gibsons. I have three and I am blown away by the quality vs cost with those guitars. Cort on the Bay

I had a cortez (I'm dating myself) back in the day. It was a scortcher.

Corts are high quality on the set neck models. When I first came on here I was praising them as being a good low buck choice.

The older Cort copies are pretty nice. Hey, the dude from Merciful Fate plyed one of the Cort copies of the Gibson V.
