  • good beginers electric for around $150?

My brother has been practicing acoustic guitar for a little while. Hes not totally serious about it, hes 33 and has a wife and a career, he just likes to dick around on it and learn some tunes.

He's been interested in getting a cheap electric soon and a cheap practice amp so he can just learn some rock tunes every now and then, bujt doesnt want to spend too much more than $150 on the guitar (I already decided the Roland Cube would be a good amp choice).

Can you guys reccommend something? This doesnt totally have to be a non Jackson/Charvel decisison either, I just didnt know what forum to put this thread in.

One of those sx strat copies from rondo music could do the trick. Good choice with the amp

Yamaha Pacifica or a Squier Strat

I'd definitely recommend any used made in Taiwan or Japan Yamaha (no made in Indonesia ones). Heck, for $250 I bought one used that I use on stage and for recording (Pacifica 921).

I would second the Pacificas, but also consider the OLP Music Man guitars - they're MUCH nicer than the pricetag would reflect.

Yamaha Pacifica 112. Nice HSS config, nicer than the Squier unless he just jas to have a "real" Fender headstock. I think the Pacifica headstock looks just as nice, honestly.

For a cheap ax, I always wanted one of those Pacifica 112 old style with the 3/4 size pickguard that doesn't cover the bridge humbucker. Never plunked down the $200 street price for a new one at the time now I can't ever find a used one.

I had a Yamaha RGZ321p that was really nice.

You should also check out theses music yo Kramer. I have heard good things about these guitars. This one is only $175.

                    Damn, I love this Interweb.

Squier 51 is a real nice starters guitar.
