Matt,
Does this mean you may be leaving the J/C's and Fender lines behind?
Negative, I'm always looking for ways to grow the business by trying different lines. I've been with JC since 88 (or something like that) and have no plans of parting ways with them.
Hippietim and I had a conversation yesterday and bounced some ideas around, one of which was Suhr. I contacted them about doing biz together and they were up for it.
Just putting the feelers out there to see what the general opinion of Suhr is.

Suhrs are outstanding instruments. A far better value for your money than many other top tier manufacturers that will go unmentioned.
I love mine, resonates forever, cannot find a flaw ANYWHERE, plays and sounds like a dream and looks killer.
Do it Matt, do it.
Anderson's are top notch too. I really love the sound of their mini humbucker pickups in their Tele style guitars. They've got a great new neck joint now as well. The only Anderson that doesn't do it for me is the Atom - a lot of guys dig them though and they are clearly well made instruments.
The only obvious concern I'd have getting started with Anderson is that they have so many models and they're all pretty much custom instruments. So if I were in your shoes Matt I would have no idea what to order for the shop. Choices are awesome of course but how do you get started with something like that?
That Suhr Pro line seems like a kickass way to break into a line. The street price for those is supposedly going to be in the $1.5k club which seems like a nice price for a guitar of that caliber.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
i have a local anderson dealer. he never has anything in stock because evreything is custom order and is pretty much sold before it hits the shelf. it kinda sucks for him because he has basically ended up being an "anderson broker" more than a dealer. the guys that cn afford them ask what he's ordering and buy it right away. i guess that is good for him because he doesn't sit on any stock, but it isn't helping him seem like a dealer either.....does that make any sense?
GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Been there and know who he is. Yes, it is sad when you are a dealer and have nothing to show for. Expensive stuff, but sells quickly.
Anderson is top notch as well. I like Suhr a tad more because of what you get for your dollar.
Matt: You have to also look at the business side of things. I spoke with a dealer out of WI that I recently purchased a custom Robin from.
He decided to go with Robin instead of Suhr because he said the guys at Suhr were spacey (his words not mine). He thought from a business perspective they may be hard to deal with. He said the were downright weird.
Anyway, I don't think you could go wrong in terms of carrying either product line when it comes to reputation and quality. I prefer Suhr myself. From a players perspective the Tom Andersons I've played have been somewhat sterile sounding IMO.
Suhr has that new professional series line out where you can get standardized models for reduced prices that suposedly have all the quality of their customs.
I own one and it has totally ruined me. Everything else I've played seems sub par. I'm really anal about necks and fretwork and my Suhr just kills. It doesn't hurt that everything else is perfect too.
My only issue is that it's so nice with the quilt top and so expensive that I'm too anal to enjoy it sometimes. I've gotten better but I'm still ultra careful with it.
The pro series is going to be huge at the price point they are selling it at. They are having a really hard time with keeping up with production. From a business standpoint I would have no issues going with Suhr. Great customer service from a great builder at a reasonable price (Pro Series). You can't lose.

I think the fact that the Anderson dealer sells his custom orders immediately speaks volumes about the potential to be successful with that line. I was in the process of becoming an Anderson dealer back in '99 right before I backed out of buying the music store that I managed. Tom Anderson was fantastic to deal with, his guitars are second to none (sterile sounding? I've played dozens of them and never experienced that), their pickups are my favorites (I have them in 5 different guitars...only one of them an Anderson) and their service is top notch. As for all of their guitars being custom ordered, does anyone remember a company called Charvel/Jackson? They were the same way back in the day. As a dealer, I thought it was great to be able to spec out the guitars that would be hanging on my walls.
I don't know near as much about Suhr, except that they are fine instruments.
Let us know which way you go.
Interesting stuff... I'll let you guys know if I end up getting either one (or both) in here.
