    There is some excellent advice above. Thanks. I have been trying amp tone and gain combinations. And that Custom Les Paul is Stonkin! My feelings are that the high output pickups just won't make the same sound as the classic humbuckers. Whatever you do. Actually, one of the nice things about having a guitar collection is to be able to enjoy the different characteristics of the different types of guitars. I doubt I will be able to find a compromise that would be ideal, since that would be a compromise!?!?!?! I took the plunge and ordered a Carvin. I really like the look of the CT6 and mine will have a Floyd. We shall see how that works out.

      Too late to the show, as usual, but that's not gonna make me shutup. ...

      I bet Scott Heatley would build one. His LP types are killer stuff, from everything I've heard. I have a Les Paul style axe of his that is shaped like a tele--that's all I play for Les Paul tones. All the Pauls are gone.
