so i got my first gibson. first non floyded guitar since i was 14. first 3 and 3 headstock on an electric. first all mohagany guitar. and i'm diggin it!
granted, i'll have to get used to restringing it. i already ruined an E string when i pulled it out of the pack and instantly cut the ball off without thinking. (damn i've got my floyd routine down to an instinct.)
i'll be playing it at the show sat night. its the white one with an ebony fret board. i tought about getting the faded cherry for cheeper but i felt that with a mohagany body and neck i'd need an ebony board to bring out more of a crispness to its sound.
i ordered one of those replacement pickguards off of ebay so i could drop in some EMG's and not destroy the stock pickguard. i have to say, i'm just an EMG fan. everything else just doesn't sound as good for my band. i wired it up to just the front volume knob and pup switch. cause i really don't need any other tones but full on bridge and neck. i did put in 2 dummy pots to hold the other 2 top hat knobs so it will retain its stock look (minus the emgs of corse). i'll try and post some pics from the show next week.
anyway. just felt like braging about it.
