  • Zolla baby!!!

I just scored that crazy Zolla V and I have been in contact with Bill Zolla for the past week. He remembers making it. It was one of his first made in 1979. He recalls custom making it for a Navy guy who's name was Banks. Thats why the headstock says both Zolla and Banks.
Its cool to have a guitar with a traceable history. Thats 27 years ago that he made this guitar. All I need is a Kahler Pro and I am ready to get her up and running. After she is set up nice I will rip her apart and do a crazy refinish.

Zolla is local here in San Diego. I've seen a few of his axes in local shops that I thought were very nice. However, I've also heard LOTS of gripes from people placing custom orders and never receiving their gear.

There were a few people going out of there way to slam him on craigslist every day for a while, lol.

Bill must not be that bad. He has been in business since 1979!

also, is it just me, or is the headstock really long at the nut part?

all kidding aside, what did this one cost? where'd you get it?

by the way, I'm all about vintage/older guitars. I just got a 1977 Guild 12 acoustic that was made when I was 13, and was sold new in 1978 in the town I was born in, Champaign IL. talk about provenance. that's more like karma. and it looks and plays amazing. makes me very happy every time I play it.

you gotta admit that V is funny looking

Yep, its ugly as a bag of assholes. Once I get a Kahler for it I will play it live.

If there ever was a guitar that begged to be painted purple with a big Batman logo, this is it! You could call it "The BatShitzV."
