and it plays like a dream too.
Nice UV77MC, but a MKR is hardly a holy grail.

I had one of the first UVMC's.. I actaully loved the paint but hated the guitar. When I bought it imo it sounded like ass and not one company made 7 string pus so I eventually sold it and it is now on the jemsite..
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

Ibanez had a maple fret board RG as recently as two years ago.

Everyone has made guitar with maple boards , but how many with black sharkies I think is the point. I don't think the new Jackson is selling so well because just because of the maple fretboard, I think it has a lot to do with the inlay. don't get me wrong I do like Ibanez guitars, but they started out as a copy company. The Jem line is even directly modeled after Vai's green meanie charvel.

I'm not really a fan of Ibanez, but if you asked me why I probably couldn't give you a proper answer. I just don't like them, which is kind of funny because I adore a lot of Ibanez players, such as Satch, Vai, Skolnick, Reb Beach etc. etc.. Sad but true

I do recall seeing maple boards with purple and blue inlays of that shape from the early 90s or so... but it does smell slightly suspicious of being their answer to the DK2M. DK2M wins anyway

I just saw one of these Ibanez's at the store today...they look better in the pics on the internet. In person it looked cheaper. The neck seemed to have an odd shape, not at all like the Ibanez's I have. It was tagged at $399. The DK2M at $200 more blows this away.
