  • Need help from EMG lovers!

I have a washburn X50 that I put a 81B/85N setup in. Absolutely love it. Sometimes I think that the the two pickups might sound better 85b and 81n. What do you think?? I was hoping that the 81 in the neck would give me more highs there and the 85 would give me more beef at the bridge. The guitar the pickups came out of had them that way and I only played it for a minute then switched them because thats not how everyone else has them.

    I think: Swap them!!!
Nothing more easy than swapping EMGs with those quick connectors.

And yes, the 85 should give you more beef at the bridge.
Despite not being an EMG fan, I did like the 85 at the bridge more than the 81.

EMG 85s at the bridge sound great to me! However, I think 81s work better on neck-thrus.....
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

I prefer the 85 in the bridge with an 81 or 60 in the neck. It's awesome!

          85 bridge - 81 neck. That's what I recommend.

Yeah, the 85 sounds alot better in the bridge to my ears. I´ve always thought the 81 can be a bit shrill.

Does "EMG-85 in bridge sounds better" apply to downtuned-mothafokkas as well? Cuz I've got an 81 and a 85 and my Nazicaster tuned to C needs a change.

Depends on the amp, in my opinion... 85 in the bridge of my dropped C guitars sounds a touch on the loose / muddy side with my Racktifier. Sounds fine / great with the 5150.

                            I don't like the 85. For me it's dual 81s!

In my experience it depends, if its a bright guitar the 85 in the bridge will be chug heaven, if its a dark guitar it'll be mud city
