True-and it wasn't originally called the Outlaw, but was called The Black Hole Guitar -I also believe B.C.Rich stole the idea from Kevin Chillcott of Royal Guitars

David Andrew Design Research. They began doing that on prototypes around 1980. They actually started using Fender guitars and basses before using their own. Royal began doing that in 1987. Royal did the circular ones only, whereas the circles were pretty much abandoned by DADR in the early 80s in favour of calculated holes in different shapes in order to maximize sustain and tone. The circles look cool, but they only make your guitar lighter, and dont really add to the tone nor the sustain. I think David Newell (the David in David Andrew) may have worked at BC Rich around 1987, because during that time they made 2 guitars that were patented by DADR, and they may have been looking into making those in regular production. At that time DADR had ended their stint at Guild Guitars, when the company had been sold to that fruit cake Gruhn...........

I saw a early strat body on eBay full of holes go for like almost 500.00..it was a early 60's.. like a 62-63 I believe. I wonder if that was one of the ones they experimented on. The poor thing was beat to shit.
