  • Warlock Deluxe from MF

Anyone buy one of these BC Rich Warlock Deluxe Set Neck's from musicians friend?

Here is the link to the guitar: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=511749

Seems like a pretty good price for a set neck. How does the neck feel?

Hmmm. I think it looks cool as fuck. Always have. Love the headstock on the BC Rich's too.

I'm wondering if the quality will be as good as my $250 Ibanez?

Bc rich went chinese, if i'm not mistaken, so I doubt the quality is even sub par.
but if you like it, try it. maybe you'll get a good one. it does happen.

I have a body art Ironbird that plays ok, but it just hangs on the wall.

That's the sort of info I was looking for.

I've got a KV2 that gets played more than my other guitar. Hard to beat a USA Jackson for sure. Feels like an extension of the body.

Thanks for the info. Was the Ironbird chinese made and about the same price as the Warlock mentioned above?

I wouldn't judge a guitar firm by their cheapest guitars.. Judging BC Rich guitars by their chinese made guitars is something like judging Jackson guitars after trying for example only the "warrior" made in Indonesia hanging at a shop here in town.. You just don't do that. Then again if it's a matter of taste, some will always love them and some have always hated them. Just the way it is.

While BCR has gone Chinese, the Warlock Deluxe (MF limited run) was made in Korea and from all accounts is a great axe for the money.

I wish people would post comments on these threads when they'd actually tried the instrument in question.

My comments were based solely on it's appearance.
I've played a Warlock before and don't care for them personaly. Uncomfortable to play.
As for this model, the headstock just kills it. It's "trying" to look bad ass, but it's failing.

I had one of those, played OK but nothing special. Had that woofy bass sound that I hate. I see they've dropped the price on them A LOT. It looked like QC let mine slip out the door. One of the bridge posts was not countersunk and installed slightly crooked so you could not lower the bridge enough to get really low action. The wiring job visually looked done well but it was still noisey. The volume pot was either shot or a POS, you could never quite reach 100% off, more like 98% It's not really made of Mahogany, it's Nato, I see they dropped that from the description too. I had doubts about the "ebony" fingerboard too. They inlays and binding were really cool actually. If I remember correctly the fretwork was better than normal too.
                            1+2 = McGuirk, 2+4 = She's hot, 6-4 = Happy McGuirk

I dunno if you already own a USA KV2 I dont see the point in buying it, other then you like the looks.

Because its not gonna compare to what a USA Jackson brings to the table.

If you really want a Warlock I'd say just keep an eye on Ebay and see if you can score something used that abit better qualitywise as far as construction, material and parts.

I just dont trust new guitars under $600 , because in my experience you get what you pay for and once you have played something like an USA Jackson or a higher end BC Rich theres just no point in going backwards. It's like "YES! I have seen the light!"

But it comes down to preference, trial and error and spending alot of $$
