Thanks for all the advice folks. This was (fortunately) my first issue with having something wrecked by UPS. (I'm a DHL man myself )

I called my CC compnay and did the chargeback, didn't mention it to GC, and I'll just stick the guitar off to the side until I hear from GC about it. The UPS Claims person said that "off the record" the guitar was improperly packed and that they'd be denying GC's claim. Serves dem bastards right.

UPS's insurance company probably hands out business cards to their new claims employees with that standard response.

Stop whining, you act as if the complete guitar was turned to smithereens.

Buy yourself a tube of this stuff, apply it, clamp it for a couple of hours, scrape off the excess goop, put the tuners and strings back on and there you go, you've restored your expensive guitar.

But that's words coming from a profesional luthier, who has been fixing those kind of breaks for eight years and counting and I doubt that you have my experience in that.

I am sorry dude, a new guitar that expensive should not be patched up with titebond and expect him to be happy with it. If he bought it at a pawn shop for $200 maybe.
He has every right to complain about medieval UPS warehouse and driver treatment and poor GC packaging.

Sorry for the hijack. This was done with wood glue..a couple times...it didn't take.
He's well justified to get a new guitar or his money back..period.

Well, the back-mounted Floyd nut complicated that repair, didn't it? It'd be pretty hard to dowel that - not that I don't think a good luthier could come up with a way to reinforce it. Still, your point is absolutely valid.

I agree with almost everyone here Tony, you don't want damaged goods. Maybe if they sold it to you for $800-$1000 or some silly low price, but you'd always wonder when it was gonna break again. That would soil your Frampton LP experience in the long run. Get your money back, return it to GC or let them give it to UPS, whatever they want; it's their problem to get their broken merch back now.

I don't avocate keeping and repairing the Frampton, but I wanted to comment that the correct wood glue...NOT Elmer's....can repair and make the glued joint stronger than the surrounding wood. I work for a speaker company. The glue we use to hold cabinets together has worked well in a few headstock repairs.
Check out this cheap Squire neck-thru with broken headstock:

After gluing it back together (no dowels or bisquits):

Yes, the repair left an ugly 'scar', but the headstock held tension of the strings no problem. I ended up selling the guitar cheap on ebay and its still working well for the owner.

I could definitely repair it and make it totally unnoticable...I run a geetar shop for a living, and I do at least one Gibson-style headstock repair a month. But that said, for THREE GRAND I don't think it's too much to ask that I get a guitar that I don't have to repair. It's sitting under the bed waiting on GC to call me about it. In the meantime I'll keep scouring the 'net and hopefully come across another first-run model.

LOL - You have no idea just how good Tony is. If I didn't live halfway across the country I'd take every guitar I own to his shop (well, until he started locking the door when he saw me coming down the street) for a setup and I've been doing that sort of thing myself for almost twenty-five years now. Fee free to try to pry those feet out of your mouth now.

                        Funny you posted that, Brad.

Soon as I saw Blazer's post I kinda cringed.

Kudos to Tony for not firing back, guns blazin'.

I second that. I've been to his shop. Tony is a really nice guy and he builds a very high quality guitar! When I figure out what I want, I'm going to have Tony build one for me. The glue comment was just stupid.

i want to say Blazer had to have been joking with his comments.

but i'm not sure, i've been wrong before.

Tony, best of luck with this sticky mess, brother. the frampton is just too cool of a guitar (and thats such an understatement), and Frampton's quite the cool cat himself.

i hope you get treated right through this stuff, bro.
