The rs upgrade kits feature custom taper CTS pots with tighter tolerences for more control vol and tone.Anyone that plays a Paul knows from 10 to 7 on the vol pot(Gibson)there is not much change in vol, but from 7 down the pots just seem to shut off.The tones are the same thats why Paul players leave every thing wide open, which equals no versatility.
The hoveland/RS guitarcap is made just for guitar application and is quite high tech as far as audio caps go.They are very transparent and let the pickups produce a wider spectrum of tones and harmonics.
People think the bumbelbee caps are mystical for some reason.I don't like them at all I think they hinder the pickups and dont let them open up hence a very muddy tone.Just think ot this way those caps are 50s technology they were the cheapest available cap Gibson could buy back then and didn't do much for the tone. The RS guitar cap is a modern twist on a very high end audio cap.
Those that have tried the rsguitarworks upgrade kits will tell you its the best investment to improve tone in a Gibson or for that matter any guitar.
I have installed many kits and have never had a complaint.I put them in most all of my guitars.I installed a historic upgrade kit in an 80 aria L.P. copy and left the original pickups in and took it around to various guitar shops and asked players to refrain from laughing at the guitar and play the shit out of it and tell me if you like the tone.I had guys from "chicken pickers" to death metal grindcore and some 80s glam guys the all said "HELL YEAH THIS THING IS BAD ASS"

There ya go, from our own Straycat! I'll be giving them a try! I'll try my best Tom Mulhern impression on the write up. Or maybe Lisa Sharken! Remember her?

+1,000 for rsguitarworks! When I got my Epi LPC I stripped it of everything and part of the mods was installing a prewired kit in it along with a SD Custom/Jazz combo and she fookin' screams. The difference wasn't night and day.............. it was more like comparing heaven and hell. I got the prewired one cuz at the time I had just finished modding my DK2 and was starting on my mutt so I was tired of soldering.

I have the same guitar, same color and everything, they are so beautiful. By the way mine has more of a 60's neck, not the slim taper though. Is yours the guitar center one, or just the normal 68 reissue?

What ball park did you pay? PM me want to see how i did with mine.

It was between a new RR1 and this I feel bad because this is the JCF forum, but these are getting harder to find since they are "Limited" now in production. It has a '59 neck profile and the 6150 style frets. More pics and test ride report when I get it.

It was described to me a '59 profile. Sort of in-between a slim taper and 50's baseball bat type. He's comparing it to the '59 Reissues that he also sells. I'll know for sure by the end of the week.
