Budget Floyd guitar

What guitars would you suggest. I'm kind of picky with fretboards, I really wnat a maple style bolt on but I don't want to spend too much. I really like the Ibanez that was posted in the classifieds but I think its over my budget, but that was def. the guitar I would love to give.

On a budget with a maple board and a Floyd... hmm, I´m thinking something like a RG550 or a Wolfgang Special... maybe something from the Yo-Kramer line. But we need to know how much you want to spend, just like Texas said.

if you're picky, then you realize you will get a much better guitar by spending around $600, and it's worth it to save up. the Jackson model with the maple neck now, what is it the the DK2M or the D2KMF or whatever, those are nice, for a floyd-lic'd guitar that is an attention getter.

I would like to spend under 300, the Ibanez posted in the this forum was set at 400. Its very tempting

If it has to be under $300 look for a late 80s-early 90s Yamaha RGZ or RGX, or a Washburn Mercury Series. They have decent licensed Floyds and are good guitars that go well within your budget.

Actually, the Kramer FR-SM22 Striker at MusicYo is only $203.99. HSS, 24 frets, maple board, licensed Floyd, in stock now. You'll probably have to do a setup when you get it but that's not bad at all for a brand-new guitar.

I've seen some old Kramers (pacer?) go for cheap with a real OFR. Can't remember if the FB was maple or not.

It used to be you could get a USA made 80s BC RIch gunslinger for cheap - I have not priced one in a while. Not exactly a cool machine by todays standards, but they play damn near as well as old SD Chavrels and many have the unfinshed maple/maple neck to prove it. They were available for under $200 not too ling ago - they are probably more now, but absent super perfect condition or a killer graphic, I would not be surprised if you could score one cheap.

Not any more. Unless, you get real lucky. If you want OFR's, old Kramers are the ticket.
