  • Yamaha SG?

Hmm.. Some guy's selling a Yamaha SG.. If I remember correctly I've seen both Carlos Santana and Pat Metheny, and even Grim Reaper play these!
They don't seem to pop up very often.. Are they good? The axe in question is a Yamaha SG700. Apparently these guitars have become quite the cult phenomenon.

I remeber those. Gary Holt from Exodus used to play one as well. Very cool guitars!

Very cool guitars and very well made. Archtop maple cap set neck mohagony.
Yeah Santana played one for quite a while. It was his main guitar too. Should be japanese made so the QC will be excellent. Tone is typically les paul like.

I saw CS way back when and remember him playing the first three songs on a Yamaha the rest he used two, a 2 P-90 SG and a 2 hum SG both cherry finish and beat to death.I'm thinking 1969-70

Yamaha makes great guitars. Not one of the brands many people first think of when it comes to high quality guitars. Their SG series have a rep for being well made as well. I think if you bought it you wouldn't regret it.

didn't Rik Emmitt from Triumph play one of these?

I gotta say, they never struck me the right way, but hey it's all different tastes.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Gary Holt played those? Kinda hard imagining such a "wanker" with an SG! Big fan of Exodus! As you know Lee Altus of Heathen joined Exodus, so seing Lee and Gary Holt on the same stage will be a dream come true for me.. I like Heathen so much I was concidering getting a tattoo of the Heathen logo Going to see them in Oslo this sunday

Yeah, Rik played them. I'm guessing they're comparable to the Ibanez Artists of the time, just not as good looking

INDEED. The AES series (720,920) are incredible guitars. Especially the 720...talk about value. It is a neck through, string through, dimarzios, locking grovers, excellent tone that will give my LP a run for its money. I bought the 720 because it is not as pricey as the 920 and because I saw Ty Tabor playing these and they sound incredible.
