I have two Ibanez's. One is a USA Custom shattered glass graphic and the other is a Petrucci P1 with Picasso graphics. Despite the shattered glass graphic Ibanez having the lowest action of any of my guitars, including Jackson, I just don't find it as easy to play as my Jacksons. The necks are just too thin for me I think. I was never able to understand why Ibanez got so popular except for their price perhaps. They also don't "feel" like high quality guitars in my hands.
At any rate, the bright colors on these new 20th Anniversaries look good, always approved of 80's hard rock type colors
I don't think it's a violation of MAP since you bought it in store, so about how good was the manager's special price? *Inquiring minds want to know. *If you picked this up with all the goodies for under $750 I'll be impressed.

I tried to pull a trade deal on one today, but they weren't really feeling generous on the trade, so I walked. Very nice guitar, but one thing I noticed right away -- I was hitting the middle pickup whenever I "dug in". If they would have come in about $100 lower with my trade, I'd be sitting here setting one up right now.
Very scary parting thought -- I've played 2 Ibanez guitars this week and LOVED them both...

Got it for a few $ more than the number you listed, but had to pay tax, so I still saved 'half a Benjamin' under the MF $899.99 w/free ship.
I played it last night at a gig.....very very impressed. Pickups sound great. I preferred it over my Jackson SL2HT and DK2MRGF (which I used for earlier sets) for both sound and feel. I have a few Prestige Ibanez's and this one definitely has the higher quality feel of those guitars.
Considering that some Ibanez Prestiges are coming from Korea at $1300 (S2170/SZ4020), and Japan made guitars are commanding $1200 nowadays (RR5, RR24 for example), nice to get a Japan made guitar with Presitge quality for under 9 bills. I definitely recommend this guitar!
Never really been into guitars with a pickguard. The one new Ibanez that has me drooling is the RG2610. Shiny black, 1 Duncan hum, full body, neck and headstock binding and cool inlays.

That black one really does look quite nice.
Fwopping, you know you want to!

There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary. Those who do and those who don't.
Here's what I measured (using a very accurate digital calipers):
..............Width at nut..... width at 3rd...... width at 12th fret
RG2570E..... 1.707" (43mm).... 1.803" ...... 2.039" (51.8mm)
RG2620C..... 1.703" (43mm).... 1.806" ...... 2.074" (52.6mm)
RG550MXX... 1.708" (43mm).... 1.803" ...... 2.071" (52.6mm)
.............Thickness at 1st...... thick at 3rd.... thick at 12th
RG2570E.... .693" (17.6mm)........ .694"....... .747" (19mm)
RG2620C.... .724" (18.4mm)........ .724"....... .798" (20mm)
RG550MXX.. .680" (17.2mm)........ .680"....... .730" (18.55mm)
The discrepancies are probably due to sanding or manufacturing tolerances, but I'd say the RG2550/2570/2620 are leaning more towards the 18mm/20mm 'wizard prestige' specs, while the new RG550MXX is more like 17mm/19mm, or closer to the 'wizard' specs. So the new RG550MXX is LESS chunky than an RG2550/2570/2620.
Wow, thanks. I dont know about the late 80s RG550s but my early 90s one has a thicker and wider neck. Its also much more of squeezed D-shape compared to my RG2550.
I think my local store has a yellow one in stock, Im gonna check it out next week.
If they only brought back the neck they used on the 540 P-II/SH. Ultra wide 1 7/8" nut! Wide and flat, almost my idea of a perfect neck, maybe a bit chunkier rather than thin though would be ideal.
3 of them in stock at the Scottsdale, Arizona GC. Yellow..(super bright yellow!) Red/Orange...and Green one. $940.00. Looks exactly like
the ones out in 88' that i bought for $410.00! So considering inflation..
thats keeping pricing the same!

Dude, you're kidding right? Loch Ness Green? They had a Loch Ness Green 20th Anniv. RG550? There was a huge rumor around these 20ths that there might be a few LNG's produced. But, it was pretty much dismissed. Go buy it... right now!
