  • How's this for an idea?

A few days ago I recovered the body template for a Gibson explorer which I never ended up using. And it got me thinking about doing a guitar like that but with a twist, a twist around to be exact.

And so I did a bit of photo shopping to make it a little clearer on what I had in mind.

    The reverse explorer.
What do you guys think? Have I gone Mad or do you agree with me that it might look really cool?

Been done before with a Kelly.
I thin it would be weird to play.

Somehow this pic makes me dizzy.

Its definitely nothing you wanna play while sitting on your couch.

I like the idea, but it would definitely become very top heavy.

Maybe doing something like this would balance it out better:

          Looks even weirder though.

I would turn the headstock around so it doesn't look so much like an upside-down Explorer. Also make the pickguard in it's natural placement.

              Cool !!!

I think heartfielder has the right idea. If you make some minor changes, it would probably look more correct, just a different shape. I say go for it!

Place ITS (Ron) pickguard, knobs and headstock toward the floor. Then you'll have something original. Oh yeah, I also envision a split Schenker type paint job but in Red & Black. Of course add a Floyd and I'll take one too !!!

Did some southern rock dude play an upside down explorer? I can't think of who right now but I'm sure of it. Like Skynrd or Alabama....Maybe even Molly Hatchet?
