Damn I remember my first LP which was also my first guitar. Only thing is it was a LP copy and a crappy one at that! It was a Lark (never seen one since then). Painted it flat black over the wine red finish, sanded down the bolt on neck (believe it or not it was mahogany) added chrome grovers, and then sold it to a buddy for $50.

I remember learning all the Metallica riffs from the first 3 Metallica albums and all the Black Sabbath stuff on that guitar. Looking back I can't imagine how crappy it sounded but back then through a distortion box I was in tone heaven lol. Funny thing is that they had 2 chrome covered pickups but underneath it was a single coil. At first I was thinking how cheap is that. Now I am thinking, they were ahead of the curve as far as the Phat Cat type of pickups.
