I play a Takamine & I'm really happy with it. I don't play acoustic all that often...but occasionally I will play an acoustic show...and it reminds me what a great guitar it really is.
The model number is EF341SCX. It is the all black electric acoustic with cutaway that you often see Springsteen playing live with.

Its a really good all purpose acoustic. It sounds great acoustically as well as plugged in to the PA or an amp. The cutaway makes things easy for playing acoustic lead. It has a built in tuner which is really nice.

    Definitely worth checking out.

Before you spend that much money, I STRONGLY suggest you check out the Art & Lutherie line...

I've had a Seagull, Yairi, and Larrivee. I much prefer the Larrivee. I've got the DV-03R (rosewood) and it's an excellent sounding guitar. From my understanding Larrivee uses the same quality woods for all their guitars. The higher priced ones just get nicer inlays and appointments. You still get the same sound and quality with the 03 series instruments--they're just devoid of fancing inlays, binding, and pickguards.

My Yairi (Wy1-k, I think) was a beautiful instrument and the neck was great but it just sounded thin. I'd put my Larrivee up beside most Taylors.

Also, don't forget to check out Rainsong. I played a WS1000 and it was an awesome guitar (kinda ugly though). Very "Taylor'ish" in tone.
