  • Best budget 7 string?

Lately I've been gassing for a 7 string, but I'm not that well versed in which models out there are any good? My budget is kinda small - around $700 to $800 Canadian.

I really dig the look of the Schecter c7 Hellraiser (the black cherry finish), and similar tops, but that one may be out of my price range, probably because of the finish. I'm trying to avoid the basic black guitar.

I'll be playing Metal and would like something with nice, bright pups. Locking trem would be wicked, but only if it's a good sturdy one. I don't mind string thru or stoptails either, but tuning stability is extremely important to me.

    Any suggestions?

    Wrong section!

I was interested in the Schecters as well. Agile has a pretty good looking 7 string with a ebony fretboard. Might be worth checking out.

Not really, it is "non-Jackson/Charvel related" isn't it?

I saw those Agiles online at Rondo. They look alright, but I need my fret markers or else I get lost. The Violin Brown Interceptor looks really nice though.

I used to have a washburn 7 string that cost around $200.

this one's a hardtail, but the one I had was the same model with a lis floyd.

I'm never empressed with Schecter guitars for some reason. each one I play just makes me go "meh". i played an Ibanez AX7221, and then aren't bad, but wtf were they thinking with a chrome tail piece?! The Schecters will probably be your best bet, even though I wasn't impressed. I'm just easily underwhelmed

EDIT: When I say not im pressed, I mean sound wise. they play really nice. Just I fidn the sound meh.

I have an Agile Interceptor 7 with the Lic. Floyd They play great, & there is no fret markers but the side dots are marked so hope this helps. I kept the factory pups in mine aswell. I was gonna do the usual install of EMGs but the factory pups were fine, especialy since I'm playing Metal.

The Agile in Violin Burst is really starting to look appealing to me. for $500 CDN, that's pretty tasty.
The RG 1527 looks like it would be a good guitar, but that royal blue it comes in is really fugly.

I've only owned two 7-strings in my life... an Ibanez RG7620 and Schecter 007 Elite. I enjoyed both, but the Ibanez Wizard neck is a little too thin for my tastes nowadays. If/when I get another 7, it'll be a Carvin DC727 or DC747.

                      Budget 7?
scour ebay for a used M-207
I had one before I got my hellraiser and if it had bigger frets I would've definitely kept it.
average price on Ebay is in the mid $300.00's
Now I've got a Carvin DC727C on it's way (I miss not having a floyd and Ibanez necks are just too thin for me)
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Check Music123.com - they have an exclusive model with just a plain black finish.

+1 I had this model (hardtail) and it's a great way to try out the 7-string thing for not a lot of money. And it's a good guitar.

Another option would be a used Ibanez RG 7620 (trem) or 7621 (non-trem).

Plus a QUADRILLION! The RG 7620 is the guitar to get. Well within your budget, came in different colors, factory DiMarzio pickups, and an excellent locking trem.

They've got the "New 7" pups on the RG7620. They're not Blaze models like a lot of people think. Can you get New 7s from the factory?
