  • Dean the Dimebag pushers??

Is it just me or is anyone else out there starting to grow tired of seeing Dean pushing Dimebags name for all its worth? Don't get me wrong...I am a huge Dimebag fan and it broke my heart when he was killed. But, at what point does it cross from being a company paying homeage to a fallen guitar hero and become a tasteless milking of his name? It has been 2 years now and everything from Dean is still Dime this and Dime that. I was a fan of Dean guitars, perticulairly the Cadillac, but this is starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I was just wondering if anyone else fealt the same way or not.

I heard people screaming from day one that if Dean (not if, but when) started mass producing Dimebags, that it was all a money making sham. Sadly, none of us will ever know the true intentions of the owner of Dean. Could be honorable, could be all for the money, but no one will ever hear him admit if it were for the latter.

I would tend to think that it is money, but that is my opinion. I looked at an import razorback and the DFH and both were made in China. That in and of its self is not bad, but charging a grand+ for those guitars is wrong. I have heard people say that they are making the razor back in China because the factory in Korea couldnt do the shape. I call BS on that. Dean couldnt get the profit margin they were looking for so they went to China.

Dean Zelinsky is a nice guy who was a big fan and friend of Dime. Believe me, he would not be intentionally trying to milk the name. All these guitars coming out were ones that Dime himself envisionned and Dean wants Dime's vision to continue. Period. I don't own a Dean, but I would, and respect the man as well.
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Maybe Dean is trying to make up for telling Randy Rhoads "no" 20+ years ago?

Seriously, how is it any different than Jackson still doing the Rhoads model?

Should Gibson drop the Les Paul model when he passes away?

I like how Dean features Randy Rhoads, Steve Clark, Sammy Hagar, Ben Orr and a whole slew of others as endorsing artists on their webpage. Well 3 of those guys are dead, so its not like they can do anything about it. As for the Razorback, peel off the wallpaper on the front of the guitar and you will find that they built it by glueing a bunch of wood pieces together rather than actually cutting the wood into shape. The first clue should have been those tribute guitars that had a sticker on them and they jacked up the price for that sticker being there. I dont think theyre in it for the long haul anyway. They get all their guitars built by a subcontractor which is a good sign they are looking to cash in while they can. Of course who is the real idiots, those who collect all the cash from the fools, or the fools parting with their money? You got to hand it to them they are shrewd, and they seem to really know how to make a buck..................

Dean Z doesnt run Dean any longer, he gave up ownership long ago. He is a part of the company, but I think he is in the R&D production side. Matt I see your point of view, but Jackson does it with restraint. They dont have like five different version of Rhoads sig models. Yes they have hardtail, trem and different price points models but not 6 different guitars like Dean. The Les Paul guitar has all but transcended its designer. Paul was an artist but he was also as much or more a designer to me at least.

How many Randy Rhoads or Phil Collins signature models do Dean offer? Im confused, they are listed on the Dean website as endorsers. Maybe Jackson should stop making all those Rhoads and Collen models before they get sued by Dean............

A business is there to make money. If there are demand for a guitar with Dime's name on it, then the business will continue to sell the guitar.

They both used/played Deans at one point in time. Were they ever "official" endorsers???
I don't recall Phil ever endorsing Dean guitars, but there may have been a brief period where he did.
Dean can show past endorsees if they want too. I don't have a problem with that, and I doubt Jackson does either.

i believe any company is allowed to say these ppl used to play their instruments....and why not..i'd be proud of having randy roads zz top def leppard dimebag etc etc playing my instruments if i was a manufacture why not share it?

....aren't all the razorback models marketed as razorbacks in most cases rather than dimebag razorbacks or dimebag sig models?
