I think a counter to Newc's point here is that Randy Rhoads played a big part in designing the Rhoads model guitar, which is why it still holds his namesake, whereas the Dimebag guitars are based off of his personal modified guitars that he got off the shelf. I really tend to think that Dean is milking Dime's name for a buck-of the 3 or 4 models of Dimebag Deans that we get at work, the quality is on par with that of an inexpensive Epiphone or Squier.

Ok but, Jackson doesn`t put in every advert they make Randy Rhoads in it..
But Dean does it in almost every one...
I think Dean are a little bit overdoing it ...
As far as Jackson goes I think it`s ok because
the RR is a very popular model as far as I see that...
And the still don`t make a big hype out of itCold Hollow Machinery

... at what point does it cross from being a company paying homeage to a fallen guitar hero and become a tasteless milking of his name? It has been 2 years now and everything from Dean is still Dime this and Dime that. I was a fan of Dean guitars, perticulairly the Cadillac, but this is starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I was just wondering if anyone else fealt the same way or not.
I think that what Dean is doing is certainly in poor taste.
It must be legal for them to issue these models or they wouldn't
take the chance on a lawsuit. The only defense for it is if
the $ from Dime's endorsement deal goes to Dime's
survivors. I sure don't have a problem with his widow
getting the money from his sig. gtrs...

C'mon now, we're really swerving off-topic here, the guy wanted to know what we thought about DEAN using Dime, not DEAN vs. JACKSON or DEAN vs. WHATEVER...
I think it sucks, but you know what? There's nothing we can do about it. It's useless to cry over spilled milk, bro.

Dimebag was the only thing Dean had going. There are a few other things they were doing, but Dimebag was their face and they were counting on him to do big things in the future.
A friend of mine works there and he told me that Dimebag's passing hit them in the nuts big time. The Schenker thing did not take off and they are spending a shitload on advertising, whith you guessed it - Dime.....
They are struggling to find a direction, this is from the horse's mouth. Until then they will milk Dimebag's persona to death. No pun intended.Mr. Patience.... ask for a free consultation.

The thing is that now the Dime Sigs don't have much to do with Dimebag himself IMO - i see it like that - they put a lot of lame colours or graphics, and are putting "flashy" inlays to attract kids in most cases.
Altough the Razorback is hideous imo it's still Dime's design - Razorback V - dunno. And Dean is really "pushing" the Dime thing as is Krank - well Dean has some moral right to do this - Dime started with their guitars and loved them to death, Kranks ?? For every album including the last Damageplan he used Randalls.
It breaks my heart to see those kind of things happen, exploiting a name of a great player and a legend TO THE EXTREME!. not using it like Marshall/Fender w. Hendrix , Not Jackson w. Rhoads but pushing it to the limits when it's start to be disgusting (IMO )
cheers.
