Well Dime did sign an endorseent contract with both Dean and Krank. They have every right to use his name as an endorsee. Although i dont agree with the way both of them are doing it. It's a bit over the top almost to the point of market saturation. I see his face and name on ads all over Guitar Player, Guitar One, etc every month. It's not like his fans will forget him if they dont saturate the market with his likeness and the models he hlped bring back to popularity and designed. It's a but much. One or several well placed and worded ads speek more than a saturation of the market. Dean and Krank are killing his name by doing this. If you see soemthing too much you get sick of it. Pretty soon the market wil be sick of dimebag and its not fair. Altho im not ahuge Dimebag fan. I do respect him and his work and what he was a human being. Being down to earth and a regular guy instead of a "Rockstar". Dime is missed but enough with these ads all ready. And yeah the import Deans are shit. I would rather by a Epi Les Paul or a nice plkaying squier instead. Not to mention save a ton of money in the process. I love Deans. I've had a few inlcuding an extremely well made Japanese made Dean Z and a Baby ML. Both were killer for thr price i paid for them but there i sno wat i would pay 1000 bucks for a Chinese built piece of crap just because it has a musicains name on it. Even if it was EVH's name. But then Eddiewould let this happen to his name sake. He'd rather do that himself.. lol j/k
But seriously ebough already with the Dime ads. Sheesh.

A friend of mine works there and he told me that Dimebag's passing hit them in the nuts big time. The Schenker thing did not take off and they are spending a shitload on advertising, whith you guessed it - Dime.....

They are struggling to find a direction, this is from the horse's mouth. Until then they will milk Dimebag's persona to death. No pun intended.
I dunno... they will be able to ride the "tribute" thing forever now... And Dime can't exactly skip to another endorser now can he? Anyone who wants a Dime anything will have to go to Dean from now on... just like Jackson and RRs except of course for that butt ugly ESP shit they have for Alexi.

I totally agree with everything that was said there. I don't see any problem with him appearing in an ad every now in then, but they're going crazy. Of course onthe flip side of the arguement, is this: Is it possible Jackson beign too conservetive using Randys name, so ti seems like Dean is really pushing Dimes name more than they are? Not saying thats my opinion, just more or less food for thought.

Ibanez doesn't have Vai's face in every JEM ad?

As for Rhoads and his sig model being popular - he died before the first production model was finished. He had the 2 prototypes, and it was almost a year after he died when Jackson even made another one for the '83 NAMM show.

It would be in bad taste for Jackson to start throwing Dime's face around saying he USED to use one, but I still don't see the difference between Jackson using the Rhoads model and name and Dean using Dime's name.

It's actually a bit sad that you don't see Randy's pic in Jackson ads for the Rhoads model other than the LTD and PCS. People need to be reminded of Randy before the kids start to assume Kevin Bond was the first guy to use it, or that the LTD was Zakk's idea.

Randy is on the cover of the 2006 catalogue. First page inside refers to Randy, the history of the company on the next page refers to Randy, the RR1 page begins: "Few guitarists have impacted rock music as much as Randy Rhoads." I think Randy's place in Jackson lore is firmly cemented

I do like playing the Dean from Hell, that replica of his olf lightning CFH ML..it plays and sounds pretty good actually..

not that I need it or buy it..but I always grab THAT guitar when trying out amps..at GC..

I don't like the painted neck ..but it does sound and play pretty good..

I think I grab that one because they gave me the allen wrench to unlock , tune and tweak the bridge to feel right for me for me..

Basically they have/had the RR in every line except the MG.

                  I still don't see a difference.
well its the same body style, just price drops, but still the same guitar. but dean has multiple body stlyes paint job and the various sort. they just slap RIP on dimebags name. i wonder what vinnie has to say about this? his brother i mean

Well, he must be fine with it, or else there'd probably be some sort of lawsuit. There's no way that the various bodystyles had not been discussed with Dime prior to his death, or they wouldn't have his name on it.

I really tend to think that Dean is milking Dime's name for a buck-of the 3 or 4 models of Dimebag Deans that we get at work, the quality is on par with that of an inexpensive Epiphone or Squier.
No offence, but wasn't the Rhoads a variation of the Gibson V just as Dime's was a variation of the Dean ML? I guess I don't see the difference because Dime had also made "some" body changes as well as hardware, just as Randy had. Not trying to pick a fight, but just curious................. :-)

Randy didn't just make modifications to a Gibson V. It may have been based on, or inspired by, the Gibson shape. But it was designed as an entirely new guitar. Different shape, different construction, different design.

Dime's sig guitar was a modification of an existing guitar, just as Zakk's LPs or Clapton & SRV's strats.

If anything, Randy's V had some design elements pulled from the Vergat V by Grover, but I dont see much Gibson there at all. When you pick them up the difference is clear............

I totally agree with the original post, people are trying way to hard to make cash off of Dimebag's murder. He is probably my single favorite guitarist ever, and it pisses me off when I see a new Dime tribute come out every week. Sure, one cheap one, a medium priced one and one or 2 high end ones would be fin, but when u have 3 different lightning bolts, 2 different rebel flags, a FBD tribute, a razor with his pic on it, a camo one, 8 razorbacks, etc, you know its too much.

Why can't they just let him R.I.P. and not use him for his name?
