Same deal as with their Edwards Les Paul clones.
Obviously Japan don't heed international trademark laws.

ESP can make the Explorer, they just are not supposed to ship them outside of Japan. Some dealers will ship them outside of Japan, even though they are not supposed to. I have bought several of the ESP set-neck explorers from a dealer in Japan.

Yeah, and have change left over. I saw new Explorers at GC for $1,049. You could probably get 3 or 4 nice used Gibsons for the price of that ESPee.

I used to be able to get them brand new for $1800; I used to get a special discount. But most of the dealers know that there is a demand over here and a lack of supply. That and ESP has increased the price recently.

I owned 2 Gibson Explorers and they were OK; a bit clunky, and a lot more difficult to play. They were not put together that great either. One of them was even a limited edition natural finish. The fit and finish and playability on the ESP explorers is as good if not better than my Jacksons. They polish their Ebony boards to an extent that they don't even appear to be wood.

Hell, get a Kramer Imperial... they're made by Gibson anyway. I got one in metallic black; best $169 I ever spent! 24 frets, plus a Floyd. You can get them with the stoptail/TOM, also. They went up a little in price, now they're down to $149, but they're out of stock again. They sell like fucking hotcakes!

it looks nice and all.. but why copy someone else's work.. they didnt even bother changing anything.. other than the electronics. the guitar looks exactly like a gibson, i'd expect them to atleast change the headstock
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway

The ESP's do not play like the clunky Gibsons...they definitly changed something. And you can actually tune the ESP's.
