Going up it essentially stays a guitar as long as it has a neck, take that away and it becomes a harp

Were you at the Melbourne guitar show? Did you talk to the guys at Box guitars? I think not. Essentially these are played using finger-style or slide. And yes, there were guys playing them conventionally.

Actually, circle, you might be onto something there. A 12 string is essentially a doubled up 6 string. A 14 string guitar with doubled up strings wouldn't be a bad idea.

Never heard of a box guitar. Those things just look identical to a chapman stick. have you ever heard of a chapman stick?
