PC-1 now that your budget is higher or a used Suhr Standard.

all good bargains on the used market.
Carvins are great used scores. Kinda Plain-Jane
in the looks department, but rock-solid build
quality and playability. Music Man Axes can
be had ~$1K in mint shape. Wolfgang Special
under $700 used, Standard for around a grand...

as much as i love my USA jackson's, i'd say grab a PRS CE24, a musicman or a suhr, THEN a jackson.
              GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

              and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Nobody carries Carvin. You buy direct. They do have a return policy as long as you don't order something crazy.

Hehe, I stand corrected. I was thinkink more of the
DC127s and the Tele-looking one. Beautiful finish on that.
                  What's the color called?

I would highly recommend looking at a Parker Fly (Classic or Deluxe). They are very lightweight, 24 frets with dimarzio humbuckers and piezo pickups, trem that can be set to float or dive or locked, really amazing feel too IMO.

I think that's quilted ruby stain w/blackburst edges.

I'm liking how Carvin you can get pretty much whatever you want on em, and have laods of options, which I like. Thanks for suggesting them As for Parker I'll look into them but I'm not just in love with their looks. I'll also see how a MusicMan Petrucci is, didnt think of that one

You're welcome. Also, there's a lot of "hidden" options with Carvin... things they don't list on their site or catalog. There's an "Option 50" where I believe you pay an extra $50 for different pickup wiring (for example, you can get a five-way switch for splitting the humbuckers instead of the standard three-way toggle, and you can specify which coils you want split like inner or outer), you can get just one humbucker if you don't care to have two, you can get it without a tone control, you can get a single coil in the neck instead of a humbucker. You just have to call them and spec out what you want.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Oooo, that's some handy info right there...I'm doing some research, too, and Carvin is a name I keep coming back to. Toejam, can you tell me what their necks are like relative to my MIJ Charvel Model and Contemporary series?

Not sure if their necks have changed or not, but my '02 SC90's neck seems very similar to the old '87 Model 6 and '88 Model 5A I used to own. I also had a DC400 and DC120 (12-string) whose neck profiles were about the same from what I remember.

How do Carvins compare to some of the other guitars Ive named? Do they compare to USA Charvels or Jacksons? The only person I know of who played one was Jason Becker...
