I've been wanting to get a 7 string to play around with, and yesterday found an RG7420 in a pawn shop. Are these decent axes? This one is black with pearl, lo trs trem, maple neck with the bubinga stripe, and dots. They are asking $219.00 but the guy said "don't be shy with offers". I'm guessing I could walk out with it for $185 or so. Near mint with one small chip in the paint. Good deal? Bad deal? I've done some searches, but haven't seen one exactly like this, I'm assuming it's an older model, although it does have the AANJ. Any advice?

Mark, the TRS is most certainly NOT crap. I never had a single tuning issue with any of mine and I would be considered a VERY HEAVY whammy bar user. $185.00 is an excellent price for a 7420.

Yeah, the Low TRS is the beefy version, the TRS II is the junky one. Very good price on it, too.

Same neck as the 7620 as well. If you're just getting your 7 stringed feet wet, you can't beat that with a stick. And, you'll get more that $185 for it when you resell it to move up to a better 7 or go back to 6's as well. You can't lose here either way.Courtesy, Integrity, Self-control, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit
