Get both. If it were me I would get a strat. I don't have enough as it is and I am starting to hit double digits with these things.

Get the new VG Strat. Then you'll have Strat sounds, Tele sounds, Humbucker sounds, Acoustic sounds, 12-string, alternate tunings, you name it - all at the flick of a switch, out of one Strat.

I just picked up this, it's an old Squier Bullet, Strat body with a Tele neck. The original Bullet's were made with Fender parts. Best of both worlds. By the way, Chasbo, I don't know if Tele's rock but Rush Rules!!!!

Never owned either, but from my playing in stores, Strats are great for old rock stuff, lots of chords...Teles are much more versatile but do have that twangier sound, so try them both out. Oh and stay away from Squires, at least anything new. Worst guitars I've ever played.

Chaspo, Alex playing a Tele?? Looks like a fairly recent pic, after he recovered from the desease:

SPUDBOY, Teles are just to ugly. If you want a Tele sound, put tele pups in a strat.... or a Kelly maybe.

Hey, that Ibanez gets a good Stratish/teleish sounds with the pickup switch in the inbetween bridge and middle position. (single coil from neck and bridge). Those Ibanez (dimarzio design?) pups sound good in single coil mode (for humbuckers). You should be able to select single coil on the neck pup by itself though.

Anyhoo, enjoy the new Strat man, Spuds Knopfler! lol

It's done. I chose a '62 Strat reissue in white. It had only been in the store for about a week so there are no imperfections. Very nice to play. Thanks for your input guys.

I have many fenders, and two being pre CBS strats. With that said, I agree that there is nothing like a Tele. BUT a Tele is way harder to play and control then a strat IMO. Also as cool as Fat strats are(those with a humbucker in the bridge), they aren't really strat feeling. The necks are flatter on most years, and if thats the direction your going to go, no doubt to then go with a Charvel strat head. They are the ultimate fat strats.

If you were looking for one "Strat type" guitar to cover a lot of turf, then the recommendations for a "non-typical Strat" make sense.

                            BUT...

Being that you already own a good LP and an Ibanez RG, I would recommend a "Typical Strat", i.e. American Standard, or if money is an issue, a MIM Standard.

My feeling is, is you're going to have more than one guitar, then buy a Strat that does what a Strat does best.

                            Just my .02.

I have a 62RI and it is very very sweet. I love the feel of it and Fender does an excellent job of recording every detail as to what the guitar looked and sounded like when they do their reissues.

The necks on a Fat Strat are the exact saem neck on a 3 single strat. The radius on both is 9.5in. And this includes the Floyd Rose Strat. The HM strats ewere 15in radius finger boards. andthe Squier showmasters are 12in radius. I've never seen a Fat Strat with a differant neck the a typical strat and i've been selling them for years. The only differance in FBs in current production is the reissue stuff. IE the 50's etc..
