Get both. If it were me I would get a strat. I don't have enough as it is and I am starting to hit double digits with these things.

Hey, that Ibanez gets a good Stratish/teleish sounds with the pickup switch in the inbetween bridge and middle position. (single coil from neck and bridge). Those Ibanez (dimarzio design?) pups sound good in single coil mode (for humbuckers). You should be able to select single coil on the neck pup by itself though.
Anyhoo, enjoy the new Strat man, Spuds Knopfler! lolLast edited by maxboost; 01-28-2007, 12:52 AM.

I have many fenders, and two being pre CBS strats. With that said, I agree that there is nothing like a Tele. BUT a Tele is way harder to play and control then a strat IMO. Also as cool as Fat strats are(those with a humbucker in the bridge), they aren't really strat feeling. The necks are flatter on most years, and if thats the direction your going to go, no doubt to then go with a Charvel strat head. They are the ultimate fat strats.

If you were looking for one "Strat type" guitar to cover a lot of turf, then the recommendations for a "non-typical Strat" make sense.
BUT...
Being that you already own a good LP and an Ibanez RG, I would recommend a "Typical Strat", i.e. American Standard, or if money is an issue, a MIM Standard.
My feeling is, is you're going to have more than one guitar, then buy a Strat that does what a Strat does best.
Just my .02.
