I'm building a Stratocaster and I don't know what kind
of tremolo to get I won't a Floyd Rose but I'm not sure if it will
fit in the Fender Strat body I got.

I have a strat wannabe that has Mighty Mites and they sound real "Bright" and pretty good.

Could I take a non Floyd Rose Tremolo
and then get a Floyd Rose Lock nut for the top of the
neck. Would it work and stay in tune better
or will it just not work.

pairing a non-Floyd trem with a locknut is not recommended. You can do it, but without the fine tuners at the bridge, it will make getting your guitar in tune that much more difficult

trying locking tuners instead of a locknut if you want to stick with a trad-style trem
