  • You guys are too phukin funny... Hey, believe what you want. Like I said, I see the shit, that's all there is too that. What do you want me to say..they're great, when waay too many suck ass and all are over priced. I got a huge stack of nice LP's...but waayy too many are poorly done.

You could put up an arguement but it will be weak. I occassionally sell them yet I'm trashing them? Am I pimpin anything? What have I tried to sell anybody? How does it benefit me? It doesn't.

Yippytim is mad cause I clowned his ass...hahaha. That was funny! Truth be told, if the dude keep talking total garbage...I'll clown his ass again! Dude needs a dilldo in his mouth to plug up his "smack hole". Doesn't change the fact that most of Gibson LP's made in the last 5 years still have problems? Yes...SOME are really nice too. If you want to say there "a good deal and well made".....I'll still say get some glasses and "shift the decimal to the right dumb-ass..that's three thousand dollars!"

Shit can away...I'm cool with that. I can't say I've been too impressed with he knowledge base around here. Seems like 1/2 of you guys are just trying to sell stuff to the other half anyway.

It would actually be kind of an accolade to get booted off the JCF for slamming a dumb-ass clown and trashing Gibson guitars. I could live with that.

        • Jeff,
I was hoping we cound continue this conversation without childish name calling. But I guess that's not possible. I really thought you were a little bit better than that. I was wrong...

But what message are you sending Gibson? "Keep putting out crap, some idiot will buy it". Your that idiot. Even if you know they are inferior guitars. But what do you do? Pawn off Gibsons "Seconds" to people on ebay. Even if your upfront with the condition or not your helping Gibson off thier crap. So really, your no better than they are...
          I'm angry because you're stupid

          • I say Jeff should stay so we can all have another clown to laugh at....Opinions are just like assholes- everyone's got one and they usually stink!
It would take a lot for Gibson to run themselves out of business due to the reputation they've built over the years....but it wouldn't be impossible. And there will always be those people who make money off of a crappy situation- otherwise how can you explain dance music (the crap formerly known as disco) or rap? (notice the root word of rap is Crap?? And it's anal for analyst....) I suppose it's easier to make money from buying/selling stuff you don't like than stuff you do. I'd be more likely to make it a collection instead of a business, personally-
Some people are just never going to be happy no matter how hard you try or how much tongue they get while their ass is getting kissed....it's probably a lost cause for Jeff at this point, sorry to say....it's a bitch being an old and cranky pessimist, trust me....

                • Some Les Pauls are crappy, Jeff and Tim are sublime at making fools of themselves.

Maybe there are a few details that have been omitted. I've had a dilalogue with them for years now. Gypsy Carns, Kevin Philbin, Reed Grothe, even Henry, himself ; we've all been back and fourth & round and round. They've replaced MANY guitars for me and they flew me in to visit the factory for a day of down home fun and complaining. Now why does a LP Standard cost $2400? I'll tell you why. You're paying for PR, advertising and a airplane ticket for me to fly to Nashville....not wood and experienced luthiers.

One thing is for sure..they love quota's, not fine guitars. You might be confusing them with PRS. They're not at all concerned about what's rolling of the production line; quality wise that is. They want numbers and you're damn right, as long as they turn sales numbers, "just keep on shipping whatever you make". They'll put stings on a railroad tie and call it a "LP Freight Train Edition" as long as it can hold a $XXXX price tag. Look at all the Artist sig editions....Page, Hendrix, Zakk, Sykes, even the Judas Priest dudes (WTF?), etc. "Now, what can we sell to dudes in they're 30's-40's that have the income to plunk down $7800 on something stupid but cool?"

Like I said, I might keep 1 out or 4 or 5 LP's that comes my way. It's the rest of the peeps that are getting the brunt of the shaft (like lippytim). I don't buy or keep the crap. I'm a firm beliver..a good LP is a fine guitar. Over priced, yes, but fine. Now is it worth the money they want..no fucking way! I don't pay MSRP or even close...not for a Gibson, that is. My opinion a Standard is a $1500 MSRP guitar, a Custom $2000 MSRP. Do people need to wisen up a notch and stop buying them? Who cares.

If you want to " send them a message", I could just give you an e-mail address for [most of] the exec staff?

Now, where's my fukin paint brush........it's time. Remember for later, "There's a feather in your cap."

                        • I can definitly understand Jeff's reasoning, but the delivery is poor. If you hadn't used personal attacks Jeff, your point pretty much would have been agreed upon by everyone here, I think, without the slightest of hostility.

Anyways, I've played a couple of newer Les Pauls. I could never play them decently, they always felt cumbersome, heavy and some of the ringing and buzzing going on was just insane.

Most of these were in stores, but I got a friend at University who's a big Slash fan, couple of years ago bought his first real USA Gibson. A Les Paul Standard. I played it quite a lot, didn't have the heart to tell him I thought the guitar was just plain bad, he was just so happy to finally get an LP.

So anyways, in the meantime I just played his cheap Ibanez RG Model most of the time when we were jamming.

So two weeks ago, we all arrive for another week at uni, he comes knocking on my door: come check this out. He got a '72 Custom Black Beauty, he got it from a session guitarist. My jaw dropped to the ground, the thing looked stunning. The second he handed it to me I could just feel the quality. That thing played like butter, not quite as good as a Jackson, but that was purely upto the neck & frets not being my preference.

Personally I'm constantly gassing over an '89 Custom.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Funny, you fall in love with a Norlin, with incorrect specs like a pancake body, 3 piece neck, big headstock, incorrect dish carve:ROTF:

My first Les Paul (1989) was a 1972 Custom (I wonder if he has mine? I'm no session player however). It had great tone from what my friend told me, but the low frets killed it for me. Sold it after a few months. Les Paul Customs up to 1974 were call "Fretless Wonder's" because of there low frets, Jazz guitars.

My '77 Custom has low frets just from where, but they are original and I can still play on them.

                            • I did realize it was a Norlin-era LP. But to be honest, I know so little about Les Paul history that I just go by feel and it felt sweet as hell. But savvy as I am, that's the reason I'm gassing over an "89er. :p
