For the money, the Epi LP Standard is a great LP! The Epi LP customs are awesome. And much cheaper, and needless to say higher quality than the Chinese Gibby clones! Shame to waste money like that.

i've seen a lot of these chinese les pauls lately; correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that there's a chinese gibson plant. i think they're finally making their way over here. a friend of mine got hosed on an ace frehley knockoff a few months ago, and there was a joe perry one on ebay not long ago. they're part of a "super happy rock and roll" collectors series or something. the ones i saw in person at this store near me were like monets; pretty until you get up close to them. one was an elegant knockoff, and looked okay until you got close enough to pick it up. BTW, the ones i've seen all have the made in usa stamps on them.

As well, would anyone really lend a real Les Paul to anyone else? I wouldn't let my old singer touch mine until he experienced the joy of spending over $1000 on a single guitar (instead of the $1000 he'd spent on a dozen junkers ) because then I knew he'd treat it like a $1000 guitar, not like some $150 pawn shop Korean Squier.

Since this IS the Jackson forum, I doubt any of you know a damn thing about Les Pauls. I think that one is real!

Wow, this thread is an eye-opener for me. I wouldn't have doubted the authenticity of that guitar for a minute. Of course, I know NOTHING about Les Pauls, but still . . . wow.

I find it ironic that the "real" LP is probably more fake than the fake! haha

Don't be put off by the 'Gibsun', just checked my 1995 Les Paul Classic logo and it's exactly the same with a bit missing off the top of the 'o'...oh no, perhaps it's a fake ???? Mind you, bought it new from a reputable long-established London shop, have the paperwork, USA case etc.
