  • PLayed a real LES PAUL for the first time

    hey people..

I have a fake les paul that i got off ebay and my guitar teacher took it for the week and gave me his REAL one instead

i thought the fake les paul was very heavy (comparing to my DK2) but damn the real one is like 2 times heavier than the fake one and 4 times heavier than the dk2

well i am having lots of fun with it over this week but i must say i rather play my imported dinky any day.. just because of how comfortable the neck is.. the floyd rose.. the versatility of an H/S/S setup..

    this is it:

any idea what model this is? i dont think its the standart.. it kind of looks like the studio model or the black beauty model but i have no idea ..
it should also have a pickgurard but my teacher got rid of it
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway

Umm... I'm no expert but that doesn't look right to me. It looks like a guitar trying to be a custom.

#1 I've never seen a custom with rosewood.
#2 serial number doesn't look right
#3 customs have a special headstock inlay
#4 logo on headstock looks funny too.

I think you are still waiting to play a real LP for the first time.

That whole guitar doesn't look right to me either. The head stock shape is wrong, the logo is wrong, the fret board should be ebony, the top carve looks funky, and on and on.

i dont know.. i really cant say.. so it might not be real after all
but the differences between my fake and this "real" one are huge

          That's defintely a wannabee...

The headstock binding is way too thick
The headstock "open book" carve is definitely off
The truss rod cover screams Epiphone
A Custom has binding on the front and back of the body

Not saying it's not nice - it's just not Gibson.

What type of fake LP do you have?

Looks "off" to me too. "Custom" style headstock binding with "Standard" style lettering on face. Epiphone truss rod cover.

The s/n and "made it usa" are stamped really deep into the guitar. I have 4 Gibsons and none of them are stamped so deeply. Nor were any of the other 5 or so I have owned over the years.

            Fishy, at best.

Fake for sure. Same stuff as one of those offered in the Chinese auctions on Ebay.

That ain't a Gibson Les Paul. In addition to what's been said, something doesn't look right about those inlays either.

Imagine the look on his guitar teacher's face when this dude tells him his "Gibson" is not a Gibson. :ROTF: .........

Ain't no Custom, ain't no Studio. Really funny looking in many ways. I wouldn't buy that at a flea market. Knock-off for sure !!!

Standard doesn't have binding on the head, Custom always has the headstock inlay and ebony board.

The serial was stamped through the paint.

It's a Chinese fake, poor guy

I don't know guys, I am no Les Paul expert but, the craftmanship work done on the face of that headstock in no way shape or form looks like the crap chinese knockoff jobs.

Somethin tells me the weight is a give away its a fake though. I must say it looks nice, but something seems off. Also note the color of the binding seems odd.

maybe it is fake.. he didnt tell me if its real or fake.. he told me he got it from ebay and he's a pretty experienced buyer so i wouldnt be surprised if he knew its fake.. he usually doesnt care as long as it sounds nice and damn that thing sounds nice

That guitar is a 100% fake. No doubt about it.

I'm curious as to why the bottom of the photo showing the truss rod cover is cut off where it is? It probably has 2 screws like most of the other fakes have. Interesting place to crop the photo?
