Just for the record.. Fender has had their fair share of lemons as well.
I think people tend to be more forgiving of a bolt on than a set neck just because you can have more leeway in making the adjustments to get it to sound and play as you would want it to play and sound.
The people who work or have worked for Gibson and do warranty work for Gibson will be able to attest to the kinds of things Gibson will allow through inspection points...especially when it comes to fretwork.
Some of that clearance stuff that goes through MF is probably clearanced as last of the lot for a reason...likely B stock runoff.

I bought a 58 Les Paul Reissue Custom Shop and the third string would cause the most aweful buzz when fretted. After going crazy trying to figure out what was causing the buzz it turns out that it was a cheap piece of shit tuner.
I've since found that if you shop around enough you can find a regular USA Gibson that will play and sound just as good if not better than the crazy priced custom shop guitars.

Damn I had to go check and make sure...actually it's 17, right now. Do you have any idea how long it takes to take 17 guitars out of the case and then get them all to line up for a picture? 1. it's damn near impossible to get them all in the picture, 2. Homie don't work for free

I never said ALL Gibson guitars suck...just most of them. Re-read the previous posts, then maybe do the math, I've recreationally collected and played guitars for 20 years and went a little haywire over the past 5. Like I said I've had a boat load of Gibson (and Jackson and Charvel and Fender and BCR, ect) guitars go thru my hands. Of the Gibsons 30+% have had serious playeability defects and of the total 75% have had ridiculously-retard cosmetic defects.

I buy the guitars, I play the guitars, I post the facts. Hell, I have nothing to gain by trashing them...and people STILL aurgue. Like I said before, you won't change my mind...the majority of what Gibson put out are unplayeable T-U-R-D-S or botched cosmetically. All of them? No...most.

Regarding the picture...even the fukin musuem charges to see 'rare' dinosaur bones....as far as I'm concerned a defect-free Gibson Les Paul is even rarer and I've hand picked umpteen of them! In the old days, they used the "second stamp"..today they leave it up to you to judge. Now, who thinks your stupd? Me or Gibson?

I think his point was he is doing that as a justification for a process of selection as it is pretty much the general consensus that Gibson is making or letting through more guitars with quality problems.

I have a '92 Gibson LP Custom and that thing is a beast! The only reason I don't play it much is because it was my dad's last birthday present. He left all of his guitars to me. And the 2 best, naturally, are the Gibson and the Charvel.
