Just for the record.. Fender has had their fair share of lemons as well.
I think people tend to be more forgiving of a bolt on than a set neck just because you can have more leeway in making the adjustments to get it to sound and play as you would want it to play and sound.
The people who work or have worked for Gibson and do warranty work for Gibson will be able to attest to the kinds of things Gibson will allow through inspection points...especially when it comes to fretwork.
Some of that clearance stuff that goes through MF is probably clearanced as last of the lot for a reason...likely B stock runoff.
