Well, I have an Ibanez PL1770 for the first time in a LONG time and I'm lovin' it. It all started out with a good friend of mine, (and yours) Paul (heartfielder). We talk guitars quite a bit and he had picked up 2 of these awhile ago and raved on and on about them and kept telling me you have to get one of these. I loved the look of these and If I remember correctly (now that I have one), I believe I actually tried one of these out before in a music store at one point.
Well anyway as time goes on, a guitar box shows up at my door via UPS and didn't Paul send me a friggin PL1770!! Before I even open up the box (yes I'm one of "those" people!), I call him and say "What did you do?". And he proceeds to tell me that it's for me to try out and if I like it, I should fix it up and play the helll out of it. Well needless to say I'm floored at this point. Is that not one of the coolest things someone could do for someone else? I mean this guy has even met me face to face and he still thinks enough of me to do something like this?
So I open the case and unfortunately UPS fucked the thing up (shut up Ron!) by banging it the hell around and the trem popped off the posts and broke the right pivot side of the trem completely off. It made it all the way from Washington to Paul shipped the same way, via DHL and yet UPS couldn't make it from L.I. to Pa. without screwing it up.
So Paul files a claim and we're reimbursed for it so now I get to play with it. Mark (mm2002) is the first person I contact to get the body painted and my wife chose 1996 Dodge "Viper" metallic blue with black hardware and a white pearloid pickguard and what a great choice it was (although I'm not sure I like the pickguard). I used an OFR to replace the old bridge (I honestly don't like the EDGE trems so it would have been replaced anyway ) and spruced her up a bit by cleaning all the gunk off the back of the neck and re-oiling it (that's how these came originally, a nice touch!). I know some say it's MOJO but I'd prefer not to touch someone elses MOJO, if ya know what I mean. I'm still waiting on a black locknut but thought I'd take some pics anyway for you. Keep in mind, my quick pics blow and would look better outside (someday!) and Marks pics of the color actually look more realistic than mine do.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to Paul for his generosity and thoughtfullness. I've had the pleasure of meeting him and hanging out with him and his family and he's an absolute great guy to know. Not a bad guitar player I might add.....(he friggin smokes!!!).
Also a special thanks to Mark for painting her up, he did a great job and I appreciate it -
Last but not least, my wife for being such a great partner and putting up with all my guitar crap through the years. It's so nice to be able to enjoy something you love so much and not have someone nagging you about it and actually take an interest in what I'm into. Thanks, Lisa....
