  • Valentine Sweetheart - Flame Koa RG w/vine inlay

    Hey guys,

I know this is Jackson country, but I still thought you guys might like to check out my customized RG. It's an RG2120KKB, which was a Japan-only Prestige model (I guess they only made 20 or so, for 2 years).

The body is Mahogany with a Flame Koa veneer. The neck it came with was cool but, unfortunately for me, it had the "Ultra" Prestige profile, which is very large for an Ibanez, and also had a Rosewood board, which is not my thing.

My ideal neck is a combination of the Super Wizard on my RG520QS (17-20 mm w/Bubinga backstripe) + an Ebony fretboard with vine inlays and scallops, like JEM 7VWHs formerly had.

Soooo, I ordered a neck custom made to those specs. After a lot of time and effort, here she is, just in time for Valentine's Day, and yes, I am in love

Who'd you order the neck from and how much did it set you back? I for one like the Ultra over the Wizard though... still have that neck?

Thanks, everyone. I got the neck from Legacy One (there's a sponsor link for it on JemSite) for $225. There are tons of posts about Legacy One on JemSite that you should read if you are interested in one. The company is experiencing some growing pains, but I am happy with my experience with them. In fact, I'm planning to order another neck soon.

Yes, I still have the original neck. It's pretty cool, too, with offset Abalone dots, a Pearl logo and a matching Flamed Koa headstock veneer. If I ever sell this guitar, I'll probably put the original neck back on it, as it is a pretty rare guitar and it would be nice to keep it original. But I have no plans to sell it anytime soon.

Wow, that is just absolutely insane! If only it were a 7 string!

Congrats, she's a real beauty, enjoy her!

Can we get some more shots of the neck and all? Especially the inlay work, if possible.
