To answer the subject of the thread - +1 on the maturity level for defending your guitar brand to the death, it's not dealers. Dealers don't just sell on brand. Right, so why would they defend on brand so much.

that's just Rich's point. There is no logo on the Crossroads guitar. It was removed to save the movie makers from having to pay the manufacturer for the use of their product. Or conversely, because the manufacturer wouldn't sponsor the placement of their product in the movie.

I've seen plenty of "true players" over the years playing instruments that still bear the maker's marque. Why would anyone go to all the effort of removing the logo? Unless it was in contravention of an endorsement arrangement the artist might have with another manufacturer. Or maybe the true players were embarrassed that their new pointy headstock neckthru guitar was actually a Hondo, not a Jackson...

I agree a lot with a lot of people say on this board, but at times I have to agree with Jeff here. People on this board will defend Jackson/charvel like it is the holy grail and then go stomping on other guitars. I don't mind if Jackson/charvel is your holy grail, however you go stomping on my holy grail and I am gonna go stomping on your small tiny head to let that large mass of air in there out so it is no longer clouding your thoughts.

I have always been one of the first people to say I cant stand PRS's, they just do nothing for me, does that mean it is a bad guitar, Nope, just not what i want in a guitar so I don't buy them

However I am getting tired of hearing Ibenhad. if you ever say it in front of me and you are serious and not joking around (yes I joke with this word, notice I said Joke) then ibkicknurass. For those not so smart people or people having trouble getting it, ibkicknurass= I be kicking your ass.

I love my Ibanez's for what they are, shred machines, do I use them all the time, nope, but if I am in a shredding mode nothing beats my RG550 or my 540P!

As many of you know I have a nice size collection of guitars, or have owned many guitars in the past. With that being said I have owned a bunch of Jackson's, some Charvel's, but to be honest most of them have done nothing for me and I have sold them all except one.

They weren't bad, or horrible, just none of them ever spoke to me or excited me enough to keep it except my latest which is a Charvel oiled mahogany strat head from Music Zoo. And If I don't find a better pickup it might eventually go on the chopping block too, love the way it plays, just not a big fan of the pickup in it.

I have done the same with Gibson's, owned a lot, some played great sounded OK, some sounded great but played like crap. I am down to 4 now, but two are being sold because they do not do much for me anymore, does that make them a bad guitar, hell know they are the best damn guitars out there, I think everyone on this board should PM when I put them up for sale in the classifieds. I wont use the normal excuse of they are not right for me, I will just have to say they are to good for me. LOL

With that being said I also see the point Jeff is making about how people will pimp something and say it is so great, then a few weeks later you see it in the classifieds. We are all guilty of this, talking something up so hopefully we can sell it at a higher price. Like said, this just does not happen on this board, but almost every board you visit.

As to musicians in the old days just playing. Well, somewhat, there are different reasons in the old days and even today. For example some musicians cover up the logo's because they are actually endorsed by someone else. Some cover it up because they are embarrassed of what they are playing. Then some people cover it up because they don't want to conform, God forbid if my fans see me playing a Marshall on stage, here let me grab some tape and cover it up.

But then you have big endorsers who will put there endorsement on everything they do, Jackson shirts, Jackson coffee mugs blah blah blah. They don't care if it is the biggest piece of crap ever made, they will have there logo all over it! The 80's where big for this, not so much anymore.

Do I think Jeff is a troll, from What I have read I would say no. He is just pointing out the obvious in this thread, it appears that some people don't like hearing the obvious. He was just pointing out something he has noticed on most boards as well as I have noticed as well as many other people.

I have not seen anything super negative or troll like. I think what it comes down to, is you have a man with experience, a man with an education, and a man that can be sarcastic. He will also defend himself if someone takes a stab at him. Oh wait I just described 90% of everyone on this board, does that make us all trolls? Just because he is a newbie does not mean he is a troll for speaking his mind. He is not attacking anyone unless they stab at him first, or attacking any guitar company, he may point out the obvious sometimes about a particular brand.

So now if you are gonna point out his Gibson post, I have read it. Lets be honest guys, I am a Gibson player, but for the price you pay for a Gibson, Well, there are issues. It is sad that I have to go into a guitar shop, and do a set up on a Gibson in order to try it out. My last two Gibson's I purchased after doing a setup sounded great, and these are the two I am going to keep.

But lets face it, one I paid $2600 for, and the other I paid $900 for, with those prices they should have come set up a lot better. Yes, I like the way my newer ones sound, but that came after doing a setup for an hour which is really sad!

Serious now..this is a serious question. I post here and there when I'm not too busy with other stuff, on a few different forums. I'm starting to notice a trend from different posters.

I buy anything INDIVIDUAL guitar that's good...Charvel, Gibson, Jackson, PRS, Steinberger, Parker, Fender...I once gad a Gretch. The way I see it, go with a guitar that meets your needs and is WELL MADE. Personally, I don't buy crap and I won't defend it. I'm one of the first to raise a glass when the job is done right. I have nothing to loose or gain if somebody voices a negative or positive opinion and nothing actually 'bothers' me.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people defend certain brands to the death on these forums. It's like the brand can't do anything wrong, everything they make is great! No matter how great or fukced up it is....

I'm pretty educated...hold a handful of degrees from real universities. When someone tells me "the room is purple"..and it clearly not purple, I typically consider their perspective.

How many people posting on these forums are dealers and corporate people or have some kind of a vested interest in a company? I never relaly get ruffled at an opinion that adversarial to mine...but it seems like a lot of people actuallly freak out and go a little nuts. I was thinking it's like 25% of posters are spam artists....does that seem high? It's either that or psychotic, but seriously. This is a serious question!

Yeah I have seen him get a little pissy sometimes, but that mostly comes when someone starts getting on him. He has joined in on conversations. I think he is just also guilty of knowing he has nice guitars and flaunting it a bit. But hell I do the same too and the only time I consider my self a troll is when I am trolling for my next date at a all womans low self esteem meeting.

Sounds like you're getting a little precious over your Ibenhads. Come on, siggy. You've been around here long enough to know that there are plenty of Ibanez fans on the JCF. You see some really nice high end models posted in the Other Guitars section and plenty of people come forward to show their appreciation of them too.

I can't say that I've seen everybody here guilty of that. There are often things posted in the Classifieds that I had no idea people owned. So if they're all pimping the greatness of these products in the other forums before posting in the Classifieds, then they aren't doing a very good job.
