      Very cool!

I'm putting together a very similar guitar shortly myself. Strat style with H-X-S pickup config, floyd, etc. I'm going with George Lynch switching (one knob, push pull to switch).

Still waiting on my Musikraft neck to get started.

Where did you get that nice wide roll of copper shielding?

Nice finished product. Man, that REALLY makes me want to continue on my Meanie, but the weather is holding me back. Too damn cold, out in the garage.
        I'm not Ron!

Of course. I knew I wanted to get an unfinished/oiled neck; there are different recommendations out there such as using tung oil, linseed oil, etc. Mike Wolverton, who runs VintageKramer.com, turned me on to the formula Ernie Ball uses.

          From http://www.ernieball.com/faq_content...ode=mm_guitars
"...we recommend Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil, but any good quality gunstock oil will work. Use a small amount, leave it on for 5 minutes, then wipe it off with a paper towel. After that, apply Birchwood-Casey Gunstock Wax. Be sure to douse the paper towel with water before disposing of it! Read the wax and oil manufacturer's instructions regarding disposal of these used paper towels.

Birchwood-Casey products are available at most sporting goods or gun stores. Their web address is http://www.birchwoodcasey.com. "

To start from scratch, I usually use 000 steel wool and some fine sandpaper to prep the neck and open up the grain. The stuff dries fully in just about 4 hours, so you can get two coats in a single day easily. I usually use the oil, followed by wax, per the Ernie Ball instructions; wait anywhere from 4-8 hours, then use 000 steel wool again and apply the second coat. It's extremely easy to do.

The Tube 50 rocks! I live in an apartment building in NYC, so I really can't go over 50 watts. (unless I get an attenuator) It's a very versatile amp in the sense that there are 4 virtual channels--clean and distorted, with two gain stages for each. (I use the distorted one with the highest gain stage, though ) Its own distortion is a bit dirty, so I have the amp at about 40% gain and slam the front with an Art XTreme at 50% gain. I have a Sovtek Mig-60 on the way this week, very excited about it--I've heard good things.
