Brand new? The Carvin probably. They start at $799 brand new. A CS Jackson will be at least 3x that cost and 6x the wait time.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

The carvin may be cheaper and are built well.......but it ugly. RR24 for me
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

The Carvin, because it has more than one pickup, and as long as it has the block inlays. I like the Ultra V design (inverted Rhoads) - you could use the longer wing to prop the neck up.

RR24...never cared for the looks of any Carvin guitar..yes that means ALL of them do nothing on the visual front for me.

He didn't ask about a Custom Shop Jackson, though. The RR24 is a brand new import model.

I love my Ultra V, but mine is an early one - set neck, round horns, Vee headstock and block inlays - so it's not the reverse Rhoads look of the later ones. It has more of the Gibby vibe even though it doesn't have a pickguard and has a short horn on top. I like Carvin necks better than Jacksons too, though I do like Jacksons as well. Different strokes...

                    Carvin for sure.
If it was a USA Jackson custom shop and money wasn't an isue, then the Jackson is a no brainer.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

                            RR24.

I honestly don't think they can differ much in terms of quaility/playability/sound but RR24 slays the ultra v if you're looking for a guitar that looks good The headstock alone is enough to make it seem better for me...

The Carvin. Carvin makes an awesome guitar, and with available tung oiled 5 piece necks and stainless frets (and maple boards) it's a no brainer.
