  • The ultimate superstrat

What do you think is the ultimate affordable superstrat? You know.. the guitar that would be considered the workhorse of your current guitar stable.

    Here are the qualifications....

Must be somewhat affordable to most of us.
Must be versatile and have the ability to do most styles of music. This includes Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Country, Soul, Reggae etc..
Must be a production guitar. No custom made guitars or mutts.

    I'll start it off:

    Ibanez RG550

Yeah, I'd have to go with some sort of Ibanez here, coil taps and all meaning versatility.

Ibanez.. RG 550 works.. I tend to like the sharkies so 750,760,770 w/ coils tapped for split...very versatile axes...BUT, I'm also going toss in another vote to go with a USA BCRich.. ST3.

Mine has a Super 5 Way that taps either coil of the Distortion Mayhem set. It can get strat, tele, and LP tones. Only issue is mine is a fixed bridge, so no whammy tricks.

Jackson Fusion Plus. 2 humbuckers, great neck, 5-way Super Switch gives me a bunch of coil split tones, and she looks pretty in trans yellow with matching headstock

I have a RG550DY and a Black RG770. The 550 has been one of my main guitars for gigs- can't kill 'em- and I'm extremely aggressive with a locking trem...

RG550 is a good one. I'd also say any one of a number of Fender Strats out there - there are plenty with bridge humbuckers and/or a Floyd if you desire.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I think it still falls into the affordable catagory if you include buying used.
