I really love my SL4...she has never let me down and can be very versitile. The only thing I could see others finding as let down would be it only having 22 frets. Not a big deal to me though.

I think it still falls into the affordable catagory if you include buying used.

All I can see in that pic is the 355!

I'd go with the 550 as well, it does it all with ease. I love mine. I could live with a Jem as well

Though the RG550 came first, I'd have to go with an Ibanez Jem UV777. Or to predate both of those, a Model 6

                      New or used?

Used, I'd try digging up a Model 4.
New, I'd look at the stuff this guy calling himself Rols Guitars is making. About a grand for a single hum, a real Floyd, a 12-inch radius and a droopy banana headstock! I'd prefer a 14-inch radius, but that still is good spec.

MY vote's for the RG550. Great all-around guitar.
                        I'm not Ron!

Jackson DK-2 or Fender HM Strat. Workhorses to the extreme. Great versatility.

For something new, the fender Hiway 1 strat with the bridge humbucker. For used, a charvel 650xl or Model 6.
